Sachin Tendulkar

The most successful cricketer ever

Sachin Tendulkar is seen as being one of the best batsmen of all time. He started the sport at the age of 11 and made his debut for India at the age of 16 in a test match against Pakistan. He went on to play for the Mumbai Indians  in the IPL who he played domestic cricket for, for 24 years. His stats just compliment and emphasize how great a batsman he really was. he was the only player ever to score 100 international centuries in his carrier, he was the first cricketer to score 200 runs in one game. He also proudly holds the record for the most runs in test and domestic cricket.

In 2011 he was part of the Indian cricket team that won the 2011 world cup. Earlier in his carrier he received the Arjuna award in 1994 for his outstanding sporting achievement, the Rajiv Ghandi Khel Ratna award in 1997 which is the highest regarded sporting award in India. Then on the 16th of November 2013 he was awarded the Bharat Ratna Indias highest civilian award. So far he is the youngest person to receive this award. He was also the first sportsman to given an hororary rank in the of group captain by the Indian airforce. He was nominated to the upper house in the Indian parliament also.

In October 2013 Tendulkar retired from domestic cricket and later retired from all forms of cricket after his 200th test match. Throughout his career he played 664 international matches in total, he scored 34,356 runs.

During this post I am going to talk to you about cricket bats, mostly modern cricket bats and my favourite bats but firstly I will talk a bit about how bats are made and what they are made from.
Modern good quality cricket bats these days are made from English Willow whereas cheaper cricket bats are usually made from cashmere willow. Some big sports brands such as Adidas and Nike have recently been trying to get into the cricket sports gear field by producing bats and gear but have found it very hard to keep up with the big brand names suck as Grey Nicholls and SS. It really depends on where you play you cricket as in what country or region to what bats you may use. For example the cricket bats popular in in the Indian league or the IPL would be the SS, CA or the MRF bats. Whereas in Europe the more traditional brands would be used such as Gunn and Moore, Kookaburra or Grey Nicholls.
Personally I use an Adidas cricket bat called the Adidas Libro 2015 series, Adidas are a brand that can been see as struggling but they are sponsoring more international players which will boost their sales. I think Adidas are a very good reliable bat but have a high middle.

I am going to talk only a small bit about the history of cricket because like any history it can get a a bit boring. Although this is not the main topic of my blog I think it would be good to talk about it anyway.
Where and when cricket became popular as a sport has not yet been discovered but it is thought that it originated from Saxon or Norman times by children living in the French flanders. It has been said that cricket was around for a long time as a childrens game before it was taken up by adults. Cricket may have originated from bowls as it is a much older and quite similar sport. It is also classified as the worlds second most popular sport, behind as you may have guessed football.
The amount of balls in an over of cricket changed more than once throughout the years. It was firstly a 4 ball over then moving on to five ball over in 1889 which was then changed to a 6 ball over in 1900. For years in cricket there was no one wore helmets whilst batting but as the years moved on and the bowlers got quicker batsman thought it best to wear helmets, which has reduced the amount of injuries in cricket, but still hasn't diminished the threat of serious injury as shown in this video. But overall the amount of injuries in cricket has been reduced with the improving of padding and protection
